Impact
What we can count, and what we refuse to
Most projects open a page like this with a user total. We cannot, because measuring that would mean tracking you — so here is everything we can prove instead.
The number that is missing
There is no visitor count on this page, and there never will be.
A usage figure would require analytics, and analytics on a site holding portfolio data is exactly the thing this project exists to avoid. So we genuinely do not know how many people use Veluma. Not approximately, not in aggregate, not last month.
That is a real cost. It makes the work harder to fund, harder to prioritize, and impossible to boast about. We are stating it plainly because the alternative — a large number with an asterisk — would quietly contradict the privacy page two clicks away.
What is checkable
Every figure here can be confirmed from this site or its source, without trusting us.
- $0
To use, with no paid tier to graduate to.
There is no checkout, no plan selector, and no billing code.
- 0
Third-party scripts, trackers, or analytics on any page.
Open the network tab. The only external host is Alpha Vantage.
- 0
Servers that receive your trade history.
The site is a static export. There is no backend to send it to.
- 152
Unit tests covering the analytics, all passing.
Run npm test. Every formula is a pure function with its own file.
- 8
Measurements computed locally, from drawdown to correlation.
Each is named, with its formula, on the methodology page.
- 100%
Of the analysis runs on your own device.
Turn off your connection after loading. Everything still computes.
Your impact, on your device
Read from this browser's own storage as you look at it. Nobody else can see these, including us.
These figures come from IndexedDB in this browser profile. Open this page on another device and it will read zero, because there is no account tying the two together.
What actually changes
The case for the tool, without a growth chart behind it.
The measurements here are not novel — a desk has run them for decades. What is unusual is the price and the trust required. The conventional way to see your own Sharpe ratio is to hand a company read access to your brokerage account and pay them monthly for the privilege.
For someone deciding whether their portfolio actually performed or merely rose with the market, that is a steep toll on a question they should be able to answer themselves. Removing both the fee and the disclosure is the whole of the contribution.
It is also worth being clear about the ceiling. Veluma does not forecast, does not recommend, and does not model tax, dividends, splits, or fees. It measures what happened and shows its working. A tool that claimed more would need you to trust it more.
